The Red Polish Nail Lounge is scheduled to open Friday, June 1, in Huntington Beach. I peeked in the window last week and a nice guy working on finishing touches inside let me in for a few minutes.

Wow. There’s one exciting room with dramatic lighting and posh pedicure chairs. The second room has slick nail stations and more dramatic décor.

For the month of June they’re offering 30 percent off all services. There were no brochures or prices available when I visited.

Red Polish Nail Lounge is at 7460 Edinger Ave. near Gothard Street. Hours: 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday; 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Sunday. Information: redpolishhb.com or 714-465-2665.

5th & PCH

Want to impress dad before Father’s Day? Take him (and the entire family) to Fifth Street in Huntington Beach on Saturday, June 9 for an exotic powerboat and car show.

It’s presented by the Offshore Racing Organization, and will feature Porsche and Lamborghini beauties, hot rods, and motorcycles. View offshore racing boats and speak to racing team members.

Lots of shopping and food on Fifth Street for some added fun. Information: offshoreracingorganization.com or 714-375-4301.

Fat Bike Rentals

My cousin Michael is coming out here in a few weeks from New Jersey. He goes skiing in Idaho during the winter, and likes to ride electric bikes in the summer.

I found the perfect place for Michael: Fat Bike Rentals right here in Huntington Beach. They’ll go up to 20 mph, and he can rent one for a half-day, a full-day … or for more than that if he wants to. Perfect way to see our gorgeous coastline.

Fat Bike Rentals is at 20001 Beach Blvd. near Adams Avenue. Hours: 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday through Monday. Closed Tuesday. Information: huntingtonbikes.com or 888-723-2824.

Aldi

I just bought a few presents for this same cousin, who will be celebrating his birthday in California. I visited Aldi in Fountain Valley and got a few bargains: a pair of black, sturdy men’s sandals for $9.99; a pet grooming kit for his dog Cocoa for $19.99; and fresh baby-back pork ribs ($2.89 per pound) for the barbecue I have planned.

When you visit, make sure to go up and down every aisle. You never know what you’ll find.

Aldi is at 17070 Magnolia St. near Warner Avenue. Hours: 9 a.m.-9 p.m. daily. Information: aldi.us or 855-955-2534.

GameStop

GameStop in Fountain Valley is our go-to spot for consoles, recently released video games, pre-owned video games, and much more. My niece and I go every year for her birthday and I treat her to a game or two. Sometimes a collectible.

Maybe you’d like to trade in your gaming system? Have a question or two? Just ask. Super friendly and informative staff.

Parking can be a little hard at times … the store is in a small center. But, once you’re inside, the personalized service is well worth it.

GameStop is at 9025 Warner Ave., suite C, near Magnolia Street. Hours: 10 a.m.- 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday; 11 a.m.- 6 p.m Sunday. Infornation: gamestop.com or 714-841-2981.
