I always look forward to the annual Senior Expo, which this year is set for June 21. This is always a popular event, especially for those with neck or back pain, high blood pressure or arthritic aches and pains.

Because I am a senior and because I deal with all of those health issues, you can bet I’ll be there.

The 13th annual Senior Expo will be held at the Center at Founders Village Senior and Community Center. More than 60 vendors will be on hand and some will be handing out free gifts, including candy, refrigerator magnets, stress balls, pencils and other goodies.

There are usually a few chiropractors and physical therapists on hand who will give you advice about that back or neck pain you might be having.

There will be drawings for lots of prizes, and you even are served a free light lunch.

You’ll have an opportunity to meet representatives of companies that provide health care, financial services, medical products and travel-related services.

Kudos to Community Services Supervisor Nora Webb, Recreation Coordinator Yolanda Rios Markey and the rest of the great staff at the senior center for putting this event together.

The parking lot at Founders Village is large, but this is such a popular event they still plan to have a shuttle available to transport people who have to park at Fountain Valley High School down the street.

The expo starts at 9:30 a.m. at 17967 Bushard St., at the corner of Talbert Avenue.

It’s still a few weeks away, but the Center at Founders Village would like you to sign up if you plan on attending. So, stop by the center or call them at 714-593-4446 and let them know.

This year’s expo sponsors are: The Fountain Valley Community Foundation, Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, MemorialCare Medical Group, CalOptima, Heritage-Dilday Mortuaries, MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center, Monarch Health Care, Presley General Insurance Agency Inc., and Syrentis Clinical Research.

Coastline Community College is planning its Strikes for Scholars fundraiser Saturday, June 16 at Fountain Bowl.

The fundraiser, set for 4-7 p.m., features two games of “9-pin, no-tap strike.”

It offers academic and financial resources to help students complete a college degree or career and technical education certificate.

Coastline Foundation is accepting event sponsorships and silent auction items. For additional details, contact the Foundation at events@coastline.edu, or call 714 -241-6154. You can register online.
