If four days of carnival rides, crowd-pleasing concerts, a classic car show, a craft beer festival and lots of food booths weren’t enough to usher in summer in Fountain Valley last week, now comes the city’s weekly Concerts in the Park series, every Thursday in July.
Last weekend, the city held its annual Summerfest celebration, which attracted huge crowds to the Fountain Valley Sports Park. Now it’s time for the free concerts.
This year’s lineup features a pop dance band and three tribute bands.
The series opens July 5 with Pop Vinyl, playing tunes from Aretha Franklin to Beyonce to Prince to Madonna and Katy Perry.
On July 12, Desperado will pay tribute to The Eagles.
On July 19, Beatunes celebrates the music of the Beatles.
And on July 26, Uptown Funk salutes Bruno Mars.
Concerts run from 6 to 8 p.m. Previous years have seen attendance of more than 3,000 for any given concert.
During the concert season, the Market in the Park and Food Truck Frenzy will be open in the adjacent Recreation Center parking lot. Additionally, during the final concert, on July 26, the Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce will host its popular Business Expo, featuring dozens of booths promoting local businesses. The expo starts at 5 p.m.
Who says you can’t mix business with pleasure?
