“If you provide food, they will come.”
OK, apologies to the movie “Field of Dreams.” But there’s an event coming up that is sure to attract a lot of people.
The 2019 Taste of Fountain Valley food and wine festival will be held Saturday, April 6 at the Los Caballeros Sports Village. This is an outdoor event, held on the Los Cab tennis courts.
The Taste is a fundraiser for the Fountain Valley Schools Foundation, which does a lot of great things for the Fountain Valley School District. This year’s Taste is set for 5:30 to 9 p.m.
“The Taste of FV continues to be one of the hallmark events in our community,” FVSD Superintendent Mark Johnson said. “And it is great to see it grow in attendance and quality each and every year.”
This year’s Taste will feature more than 40 restaurants, caterers, patisseries, bakeries and specialty food sellers from Fountain Valley and nearby cities. Additionally, the fundraiser will feature “full” pours available for purchase from wineries and breweries, as well as musical entertainment, a silent auction and a drawing.
General admission is $45 per person.
This is an adults-only event. However, on-site childcare will be available for $15 per child age eight weeks to 12 years. Limited childcare space is available and advance registration is required.
All proceeds from the Taste of Fountain Valley go to support the Fountain Valley Schools Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit formed to “enrich the academic experience of the students in the district.”
Parking is free at Los Cab Sports Village. The parking lot and parking structure do fill up, and organizers recommend carpooling or taking Uber/Lyft to the event.
“Los Caballeros remains one of the best partners for this event,” Johnson said. “With the mission and vision of our Foundation to support all 10 of the schools in FVSD, we want to encourage our entire community to attend this important event. And we promise you a great time.”
Los Caballeros is at 17272 Newhope St. For more information, email tasteoffv@gmail.com
The Fountain Valley School District also has another popular event coming up, and this one is for the students and their parents and friends.
The district will celebrate the artistic talents of its students at the 17th annual District Art Show, from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 at the district office. The event, presented by the Fountain Valley Schools Foundation, will feature student art displays, performances by the district middle-school vocal music program, a cookie creation station, jewelry design contest, photo booth and food trucks.
The district office is at 1055 Slater Ave. For more information, call 714-843-3291.
