People who live in Fountain Valley will tell you there’s a Midwest kind of vibe here.
There’s no beach or amusement park, but there are friendly people, great schools, rampant volunteerism and lots of parks.
One of those parks is Heritage Park, which sits next to the Fountain Valley Library. The 2.3-acre site is home to some of Fountain Valley’s oldest structures, including the Talbert Real Estate office, a Japanese bathhouse and, more recently, the Courreges Ranch tank house.
It is an intimate, cozy gathering place with an Americana feel, accented by symbols of the city’s history.
It is also the location for a new event in town.
On Saturday, April 27, the Fountain Valley Historical Society – along with Fountain Valley Living Magazine – will present Spring Jubilee, a fun, old-fashioned fair featuring a vendors village showcasing the work of local crafters, and home and garden businesses offering services and products.
I should point out that I am a member of the Historical Society Board of Directors and, as many know, I’m co-owner of Fountain Valley Living Magazine. That’s why I know so much about this event!
Spring Jubilee is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
If you grew up in the Midwest, you’ll appreciate what this event has to offer – a serene park setting, home-made crafts, the latest in home-improvement innovations and more. There will even be opportunities for kids to make their own old-fashioned ice cream.
The Fountain Valley Historical Society operates and maintains Heritage Park, which also is home to a museum inside a wooden firehouse that was added to the park in 1989. There are kitchen facilities and a meeting room that can hold more than 80 people for myriad functions – weddings, reunions, family parties and home and garden shows.
While you browse for handcrafted items and home improvement information, you can enjoy food and musical entertainment. Enjoy a glass of lemonade under the shady trees, buy a hot dog and relax at this laid-back event.
Additional sponsors of Spring Jubilee are: Alex A. Accetta, CPA & Associates Inc.; Mimi’s Jewelry; Newport Awning Co.; Lily Campbell Team; Pontrelli’s Interiors; ADT; American Vision Windows; Orange County Imprints; Top Dawg Pet Grooming; Grace First Insurance Agency; Orange County Vector Control; and Restoration Pros.
