Time is running out for residents or business owners to nominate candidates for the city’s Beautification Award. Nominations will be accepted online until Friday, Dec. 15. The award recognizes pride of ownership and commitment to beautification for either improving of maintaining properties.

Last year’s winners included the Recess Room, a locally owned and operated restaurant, which took over a former Coco’s Restaurant at 18830 Brookhurst St. and transformed it into a upscale destination with patio dining. The Fountain Valley Town Center also won for maintaining its property “in an attractive and well-kept manner.”

Other past winners have included the Carmel Retirement Village, Tio Flacos and the House of Batteries.

The Beautification Committee will review nominees January 4-10, and the winners will be selected Wednesday, Jan. 10. Winners will be announced at the Business and Leadership Awards Dinner on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
