The Fountain Valley School District’s Food Services program is serving up an opportunity for families to drive through and pick up free lunch meals for any child 18 and under at three locations.
Meals will be provided for free regardless of what school they attend or if they receive free, reduced or paid status lunch, officials said.
Children must be present in the car for meals to be provided. Meals will be served between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The drive-through service will take place in the parking lot or bus lane at each participating school. Parents are asked to stay in their cars and meals will be passed through based on the number of children in the car.
Meals will be available at the following schools:
- Cox Elementary School, 17615 Los Jardines East, Fountain Valley
- Tamura Elementary School, 17340 Santa Suzanne St., Fountain Valley
- Oka Elementary School, 9800 Yorktown Ave., Huntington Beach
Meals will include an entrée, fruit, vegetable and milk. The entrée will be frozen, and the district will include cooking instructions. The program is for pickup of meals only, and meals will not be consumed on-site.
While I’m on the subject of kids …
Are you looking for an activity to keep them busy while they’re at home?
They may want to enter the Municipal Water District of Orange County’s annual Water Awareness Poster Contest. All Orange County students in grades K-12 are invited to create posters that reflect the theme, “Water is Life.”
A total of 40 winners will be selected in the poster contest, and one grand prize winner in grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 will receive an iPad Mini.
All 40 winners, along with their parents and teachers, will be invited to attend a special awards ceremony at the Discovery Science Center. The deadline for entries has been extended to May 4.
