Part of a construction site for a bridge under construction on the 405 Freeway caught fire and temporarily closed northbound lanes Wednesday morning in Fountain Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The blaze was reported at about 8:52 a.m. near the Talbert Avenue overpass, with wooden framework not directly part of the bridge catching fire. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, which was out by 10 a.m.
It was unclear what started the blaze.
Megan Abba, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Transportation Authority, said there were workers on the structure at the time.
The old Talbert Avenue bridge was demolished in September, Abba said, and crews have been working on framework for the new structure.
The construction is part of a $1.9 billion project to widen the 405 from the 73 Freeway in Costa Mesa to the 605 Freeway near the Los Angeles County line.
