A woman was rescued after she became trapped in a storm drain along the Santa Ana River in Fountain Valley on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
Just after 2 p.m., authorities received a call about the woman who was trapped in the drain behind a Costco store along Talbert Avenue & Newhope Street, according to Veronica Burks of the Fountain Valley Fire Department.

It wasn’t known how the woman wound up there, but she was unable to get out because of the slope of the drain, Fountain Valley Fire Capt. Nick Fasullo said in an interview with news videographer OC Hawk.
The search for the woman lasted about two hours before crews were able to locate her. She was removed from the drain around 4 p.m. and taken to a hospital with minor injuries, Fasullo said.
