Sometimes you just have to order breakfast at lunchtime.
I did just that at Tropical Smoothie Cafe. Pulled up to the drive-thru and ordered the Southwest Wrap — eggs, grilled chicken, pepper jack cheese, tomatoes and chipotle mustard, for less than $5. The combination of flavors was superb.
Breakfast is served all day. Smoothies, toasted sandwiches, salads and more also are on the menu.

Peace Halo Jewelry has opened in Huntington Beach, selling jewelry supplies, beads, rings, bracelets, necklaces and more.
I spent more than a half-hour in this little store, and found some incredible bargains: A 15-inch red jade bead string was $8, on sale for $4, and there were many more bargains to be found. I’ll be back.

Bahama Buck’s
Yes, the air conditioner is on. And yes, it’s hot out there. But, for a blissful 15 minutes, I felt like I was off on vacation in Hawaii, enjoying a cool, refreshing shaved ice treat. Best of all, it was sugar free, fat free, and had no carbs.
I was at Bahama Buck’s in Huntington Beach, eating a shaved ice with toasted coconut, blue coconut and watermelon syrups. So delicious, and the spoon changed color when put in the shaved ice.
Lemonade, limeade, acai bowls … all on the menu. I’m coming back next week.
Bahama Buck’s is at 8112 Talbert Ave. near Beach Boulevard. Hours: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Information: bahamabucks.com or 714-841-7661.

Saving at Savers
I got a coupon for Savers thrift store: spend $10 and get $5. What to buy? I found a very cute top, and picked four books that came to a little more than $11. With a tag sale on the top, and a buy-three-books-get-one-free deal — plus the coupon — my total was under $7. Nice!
It’s a huge store filled with clothing, shoes, accessories, books, toys, jewelry, furniture and linens. Plan to spend some time checking it all out.
