A 32-year-old Anaheim man was arrested after agreeing to meet with a person he thought was a 15-year old girl at a park for a sexual encounter, authorities said.

Troy Shellenbaum was arrested Friday, Aug. 3 by Fountain Valley police, who were conducting an undercover operation, police said.
Shellenbaum contacted an undercover officer who he thought was a 15-year old girl on Facebook Messenger, police said.
Shellenbaum initiated a sexual conversation and later arranged to meet with the undercover officer at a park in Fountain Valley. Shellenbaum went with the purpose of meeting the 15-year old girl and going to her home for a sexual encounter.
Shellenbaum is a registered sex offender who was previously arrested for rape by force of fear. He was on parole at the time of the incident, police said.
He was arrested when he arrived at the park and made contact with the undercover officer. Shellenbaum was booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of contacting a minor with intent to commit a felony and the parole violation.
