Eva Kilgore: Grocery Outlet opening its doors in Huntington Beach

Today is the grand opening of Grocery Outlet in Huntington Beach.

There will be all kinds of shopping specials, games and prizes. Enter for your chance to win free groceries for a year.

Along with lots of super prices on food products, Grocery Outlet has apparel, home accessories and a special seasonal section.

Harmony HB Arts & Wellness Center

You’re invited to the Harmony HB Arts & Wellness Center’s sixth anniversary party on Saturday, March 31.

Have a bite to eat, listen to music and dance. Proceeds from the night’s raffle will benefit the Huntington Beach charity Off the Streets … helping the homeless.

This spot is a popular yoga destination, with an arts and holistic wellness products gift shop in front.

Remembering the Golden Bear

Janis Joplin, Jerry Garcia and Jimi Hendrix … just a few of the music legends who performed at the Golden Bear on Main Street in Huntington Beach in the ’60s.

Now, Surf City resident Sam Bernal has created T-shirts featuring some of the musicians and the Golden Bear building. Fun!

Intro 2 Skateboarding

Would your child like to learn to skateboard? Or improve his or her skateboarding skills? Intro 2 Skateboarding has outdoor classes for children age 5 to 13, of all skill levels. There’s going to be a summer camp this year, too.

Need a deck, helmet, pads or a new skateboard? They’re available.

E-waste and shredding event

There will be a free electronic waste collection event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — or until the truck is full — Saturday, April 21. It’s hosted by the Fountain Valley Community Foundation at the Fountain Valley Recreation Center, 16400 Brookhurst St. near Heil Avenue.
